Jay Leno back on top

Now that Conan is off the air and Jay Leno has resumed his original Tonight Show some people wonder if this affecting Jay at all. Well the answer to this is no. When Jay was asked if he was afraid this might "tarnish" his good guy image he replied with, "You know what's good for tarnish? Vinegar and ammonia. He also added that he hopes to remain friends with Conan and says that all of the trash talking was just "show business."

Friday night Conan jokingly said that if NBC were to make a film about him he would want Tilda Swinton to play him. Funny enough Swinton is more than happy to star as Conan. When asked she replayed, "I've heard about Conan! I'm so thrilled. I would just be only too happy. Yes, yes, yes, absolutely."

I personally never like Conan just because I never really found him funny. I however do not think it was right of NBC to just drop him like that. But I'm sure this is not the end of his career.

  1. If Conan O'Brien never works another day in his life, he will be well taken care of. I don't think NBC should have given him such a large pay off, but hey who am I.
I heard the remark Jay Leno made, and I thought it was very distasteful. If the shoe were on the other foot, I wonder would he be so smug.
I never watched either of the men on television; but I have a big heart and when someone is hurt, embarrassed, loses at something, or is unjustly wronged, I am affected.
The media is all over them. I've really just about had it up to here with watching it on every television channel. I wish the best for both men.

  2. Conan will most definantly bounce back. I know a good amount of people who enjoyed his program. However, Jay has a history.
Its like going to a wing joint. Would you more than likely, go eat at Hooters or Dick's Wings knowing they have a good reputation for awesome chicken wings or would you try wings at a place like Denny's. (By the way, I have no idea if Denny's serves wings; it was just used as a 'for instance'.)
Both men are equally talented. It's just that one has been there, done that, and gotten a larger following!

  3. conan totally got screwed on this deal. i think the only reason jay got his job back was because his other show "the jay leno show" bombed.

  5. To be honest I am sick of hearing about this. I have never watched either show. I am not sure why this has been made into the big deal it is.

  6. I did not watch any late night talk shows until Conan took over The Tonight show..It does not really have that much affect on me, but I am a huge Conan O'Brien fan..I personally think the man is brilliant and funny as hell..He is a Harvard grad for crying out loud, so I think the choice he made to leave was the right one..Someone will come along and realize this man's talents and want him to do whatever it is that he is going to do here in the near future..His farewell speech was very appropriate b/c apparently NBC gave him the right to say WHATEVER HE WANTED on his last show..And Jay Leno is a lost cause in my opinion..Now that man is not funny to me at all, he just plain bothers me.
